Dungeons and Dragons Project the World of Selve Non-Human Races

The Non-human Playable Races of Selve

Elves

Once a great race elves numbers have declined since the god like disease “Black Mucus” appeared during the Great War. The last victims of the “Black Mucus” died over a thousand years ago, but since the rise of man the elves never returned to full glory. Elves are either from nomadic tribes all over the World of Selve or the small city-states that lie on the west coast of the Dantic Ocean. Elves in the World of Selve appear and act the same the ones described in the PHB. The elves have a main language of common eleven but there also tribe based ones for the nomads. There is also low and high eleven mainly befitting one social status as an elf.

Dwarfs

The dwarfs are race that is well known for their mines and craftsmanship of many things including weapons and armor. During the Great War the dwarfs served as an ally to the elves supplying many goods including weapons and armor but once the disease “Black Mucus” appeared the dwarfs supplied less goods to elves out of fear they would get the disease and hid in their mines. The orcs captured and enslaved many dwarfs forcing them to fight or make goods for the Great War. The dwarfs that ran away or survived the orc enslavement before the appearance of the disease appeared were welcomed home with great honors. Those who ran away or survived the orc enslavement after the appearance of “Black Mucus” were rejected from returning to the mines and were forced to join other races. It is unclear from historical records if any dwarfs had “Black Mucus.” The primary mines of the dwarfs are North of where the Shun-Wen humans come from. Dwarfs in the World of Selve appear, act, and speak dwarven as described in the PHB.

    Half-Orcs
Half-orcs are rather varied how they came to be. Before the Great War orcs and humans occasionally reproduced with each other making half-orcs this would be from tribes meeting each other, invasion, and enslavement. Back during the crisis of the “Black Mucus” disease Barnok an orc wizard, noticed that humans were not affected by the disease and he started creating a new race of orc that was resistant to the disease. Orc Queen Ushat found out about Barnok’s experiment and put end to it because she felt like mixing orc blood with lowly human blood was a disgrace for all orc kind. Much like the time before the Great War half-orcs produced by human and orc interactions. Orcs  in the World of Selve appear, act, and speak orcish as described in the PHB.

Gnomes

Gnomes are a small race that have various pockets of small towns across Selve. During the Great War gnomes were split on which side to ally with, so many groups choose their own side rather than a collective decision. Towards the end of the war a lot of gnome groups started to see that the orcs were using them and/or enslaving them. Gnomes  in the World of Selve appear, act, and speak gnomish as described in the PHB.

Dungeons and Dragons project the World of Selve Part II

Here are the rest of the human sub-races that appear in the World of Selve and these are a work in progress so suggestions would be nice.

  • Kennet: Racial group that lives on the northwest coast of the Dantic Ocean on the tundras. They proud are warrior group believes in honor through battle. Physically they are of average height but they tend be larger at the top. They have typically have blonde or red hair with blue or green eyes. Men tend to have beards because of the cold weather. One of the ways they see honoring the gods is practice of honorable battles and deaths. The Kennet speak Cennetian and their written language is made of ruins.
  • Lungite: Racial group that resides on the east coast of the Dantic Ocean in the deserts, jungles, and mountains. They are one of the oldest groups in all of Selve, some even think humanity started with them. A rather mixed race but the some standards for them are tall dark skinned with black hair and dark eyes. Some are nomads and some live in cities and towns. Religion ranges from passing interest to fanaticism. Gender roles have seemed to flip within some of bands of the Lungite. The main language is Lungite but there are a few bands that have their very language.
  • Shun-Wen: Racial group that resides on the east coast of the Dantic Ocean in the mountains, jungles, and deserts. Like many of the other races they seem to be rather mixed but there are some groups that have secluded themselves off from others. Physically they can range from lighter to yellowing to tanned skin tones. Their hair is mostly black and eye are mostly dark, some have large amounts of hair while some have very little natural body hair. Religion ranges from believing in the gods to a believe one can achieve harmony with the universe. The Shun-Wen have many languages but luckily to any adventure and/or trader they have a basic dialect they call Wan. Oriental Adventures can be used for character classes and weapons.
  • Zharko: Racial group that is resides in the deserts, mountains, and jungles of Selve. Some groups are mixed while others fit standard look of olive to tanned, dark eyes, and black hair. Their focus on religion from passing interest to extreme fanaticism, and some even pray several times throughout the day. Some groups are male centered with the exclusion of females from everything outside the house. The main language used by the Zharko is Ablan but some bands refuse to use it because it is to modern.

Dungeons and Dragons project the World of Selve Part I

Here are two of human races in the World of Selve, and these are a work in progress so suggestions would be nice.
  • Elowen: Racial group that resides on east coast of the Dantic Ocean. Like the other races they are rather mixed. All around from physically to emotionally to education almost all variations appear in the Elowen. In certain areas religion seems to be high fanaticism where people are tortured or killed for speaking against the gods or a god. The language main is Elowen with a few small variation in small pockets.
  • Kalani: Racial group that resides on islands on the west coast of the Dantic Ocean. Rather mixed racial group some historians believe they are made up of Longile, Elowan, Zaharko, and Shun-Wen. Moods run from rather stoic to charismatic. Religion practices run the gamet of at home shrines to small meeting houses to large halls. Physically are mixed but the standard seems to be tanned to dark, with black hair, and dark colored eyes. Some even heavily adorn themselves with large tattoos. Several small languages are spoken but all Kalani know the base language Kalaniwain.

Next time I will show post a few more human races.

I am one of the unemployed.

Back in the December of 2011 I graduated with a degree in Anthropology focusing archaeology from Arizona State University. I knew it was going to be a tough market to find a job because of the low economy, what I got my degree in, from friends who graduated before me, and lack of experience. Before I graduated I made sure I stopped in school’s career services office to get help. The woman there helped me figure what jobs interested me and helped me improve upon my resume. With her help and starting looking for job early I thought things would be easier, come to find out it didn’t.

Roughly a year after graduating all seemed hopeless. I had only gotten a few interviews including one with a specialized temp agency where the recruiter had no clue what to do with me since I had a degree in Anthropology. I knew things were going to be a little rough with the recruiter because of my degree but I brought my Auto-Cad portfolio to show him I had experience with Cad. Not long after the interview I got an e-mail stating that I don’t get the temp position because company that was looking for a drafter didn’t not get the requested extra floor space.

Things turned out to get slightly better right before the one year mark since I got my degree. I got an interview with a local non-profit for part-time job. After what I thought was a good interview I got the news later that day at a friend’s party that I got the job with the non-profit. I was hired for the Holiday season working in customer service and luckily was kept on for the rest of the busy season. Things where good but after a few more months once late spring early summer hit I was laid off because attendance was down and they did not need so many staff.

Now after four months since being laid off I am still looking for a job. I have gone to a few interviews where I think things went well. One of the interviews was with another non-profit organization for a part-time customer service job, which I did not get and never heard why. The second interview was more of a meet and greet with a fast food company opening a new location, I never heard back from them. My latest interview was with a insurance company to looking to find new call center staff. My interview went rather well and the woman even told me that she was going to recommend me. A few days later I took their online tests, which I found out later that my scores were not what they wanted. It was back to square one.

I am currently looking at possibly going back to school to get some sort of certificate in Auto-Cad or GIS. I have started to apply for Auto-Cad jobs hoping my school experience will be experience, plus I am making CAD portfolio. Another thing I am looking into is finding a job in Jacksonville, FL so that I can be closer to my grandfather who lives there.
